Baltimore – A lucky Ellicott City, Maryland woman who goes by the nickname of “Mona” is celebrating a major win in the Jan. 10 drawing.

The 41-year-old matched four white balls and the Powerball for a $50,000 prize. However, her decision to add Power Play to the ticket for an extra $1 means she won $100,000.

RALEIGH – Nancy Linn of Salisbury said she has a friend to thank for her $150,000 Powerball win.

“My friend was stopping to get a Powerball ticket after we played bridge and she convinced me to get one too,” Linn said. “She even suggested I get the $3 ticket.”

CLIVE, Iowa — A New Hampton couple who claimed a $2 million Powerball® prize on Thursday said they first got an inkling about the good news when an email was sent out to all employees at their workplace.

Keith Burge, of Dearborn, matched the five white balls – 10-40-45-56-67 – in the Dec. 4 drawing to win a $1 million prize. He bought his winning ticket at the Sunoco gas station, located at 22110 Ford Road in Dearborn Heights.

RALEIGH – James Miller of Iron Station said a spur-of-the-moment decision to buy Powerball tickets became a life-changing moment when he won $100,000 in Saturday’s drawing.

“Six dollars changed my life,” Miller said. “I’ve got two babies at home and they sure are going to have an amazing Christmas now.”

Jerry and Teresa Maples had been traveling through 11 states, and in each state, they bought a couple of Lottery tickets. That’s how they happened to buy a Powerball ticket at the Stop In Food Store at 2375 Roanoke Street in Christiansburg.

That ticket ended up being a $2 million winner!

“It still doesn’t feel real yet!” Ms. Maples told Virginia Lottery officials as they claimed their prize.
